On another post I discussed the importance of branding in “over saturated” markets. But I’d like to share how that thought process stems from a lack mentality, and how it could be affecting your business. Because the truth is that there is plenty of room for you, it’s all about perspective.
When we have a lack mentality, it can affect our business in a number of different ways. We choose not to start, accepting failure before even getting started. I like to call this one self-sabotage. If we do start, it might be in a half-assed manner that won’t even give our small business the opportunity to succeed.
This lack mentality is causing your business to fail from a subconscious level.
As mentioned above, you may not be saying out loud that you don’t believe your business can succeed. But your actions, or lack there of, are showing it for you. Now before you start beating yourself up about this, I have to share that I see you. I’ve been there. I’ve told myself that I wanted to be successful while sitting in analysis paralysis, perfectionist syndrome, and so forth. Entrepreneurship is a learning process on so many levels.
If you feel called to it, you can succeed in it.
I’m a firm believer in callings. That intuitive tug to head in a certain direction. With that comes consistency and patience though. You have to learn to trust the process. To allow yourself to grow. The thing most business owners forget when they’re starting out is that overnight success isn’t really a thing. Can it happen? Sure, of course. However the beauty of entrepreneurship is the journey and growth along the way.
Keep showing up for your small business
If I’ve learned anything over the almost decade of entrepreneurship, it’s to keep showing up. You can slow down, but don’t give up. Not if it’s something you truly want. Keep showing up despite your lack mentality. Because the efforts will not be wasted if you keep pushing forward. Learn new ways to market your business, hire a coach, attend networking events. You’ve got this!
